Marianne Murphy
Please join us for the CD release concert of
"I Am My Mother's Daughter" a new recording
by Marianne Murphy!

The daughter of a respected Irish musician and performer, Marianne Murphy has the unusual capability of tapping into the issues and dilemmas of day to day existance and responding with poignant, touching lyrical statements that escape the multitudes who are writing under the lure of the brass ring. While much hyperbole in record company bio's points out the long and winding road, with all its extremes; awards, successes, dissapointments and dissillusions, suffice to say here that Marianne Murphy is simply the best, most down to earth singer-songwriter we have heard in a long time. With a voice that can melt the sternest expression into a smiling nod of approval and songs that run a straight line to the heart!

One of Scotland's finest folk singers and songwriters! To date Jim's career highlights include solo tours in USA, one being right here at Celtic Kettle, Germany, Canada, Denmark, Ireland and England, solo studio spots on Traveling Folk, an appearance on STV's Hogmanay show and a tour in Uganda. His song Neptune featured on an award-winning documentary about a North Sea oil spill. Jim's seventh solo CD, Acquaintance, is a lovely collection of mostly well-known Burns songs, with a few less-well-known gems for good measure!

Lost World String Band

Recently reunited after a semi-retirement of 20 years to raise families (yes, they've reproduced!). This is the original 1980's quartet - not another one of the hundreds of Lost World cover bands touring the country today.
Frank Youngman - bass, accordion, trumpet, Gerald Ross - guitar, ukulele, Hawaiian steel guitar, Dave Ross - mandolin, fiddle, Paul Winder - fiddle, viola.
During the 1980's and 90's the Lost World, playing swing, blues, jug band, old-timey, Cajun, Hawaiian and whatever else struck their fancy toured the Midwest and the East Coast extensively and performed on the nationally broadcast radio show "A Prairie Home Companion" with Garrison Keillor. For this year’s Celtic Kettle Coffeehouse performance the “Lost Boys” promise to play many of their past “hits" in addition to a few new musical surprises.
